Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer in person sessions in chicago? how abouT virtual?

Yes, I provide in-person therapy at the following location: Chicago Office: 307 N Michigan Ave, Suite 412 Chicago, IL, 60601. I also provide online therapy throughout Illinois using a 2-way streaming, HIPAA compliant platform.

what happens if I reach out and your schedule is full?

You are either welcome to join my waitlist, or I am always happy to connect you with a known and trusted colleague.

What type of work do you do with children and teens?

I use a combination of child-centered play therapy, developmental skill building, trauma-informed play therapy, CBT, ERP (depending on age) and parent training. I support children and families through a range of challenges including ADHD, anxiety, school-refusal, selective mutism, divorce, ASD, and trauma. I believe strongly in parent, school and community collaboration to transfer the work your child and I do together. Really, I love working with parents as much as I do children and have found so much joy in partnering with families.

What should I expect from a consultation call?

Consultation calls are a great way for us to determine if we’d be a good fit! Plan to learn a bit more about my approach to therapy, while I assess your needs and goals. I’ll answer any questions you might have, and we both can decide if it feels like we’d work well together.

What is erp therapy and how does it help ocd or complex anxiety?

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is an evidence-based treatment for OCD involving gradually facing feared thoughts or situations. It helps to reduce the distress caused by intrusive thoughts, reassurance seeking or mental rituals that can cause debilitating anxiety, stress and interference with every day life. While it can be hard and scary - it is my job to help you to stay within a level of discomfort that is safe, and allows for growth and symptom reduction.

How do I get started?

Reach out in whatever way feels good for you! You can contact me by phone at 331-442-2848, email me at katie@ease-psychotherapy.com, or fill out the contact form on the About Us page to schedule a consultation.

What makes you different?

Mostly, my really cute dog, Peanut, who sometimes joins for virtual sessions……

But really, from what I sometimes hear from my clients, I think they enjoy the balance of being able to go deep, process trauma and pain in a safe space, in combination with my coaching, psycho-educational style that helps to build skills. I will never throw skills or strategies at you, but I will work hard to form a relationship that feels trusting enough to try new things, explore and collaborate through the growth process.
